Covid-19 Safety

New safety procedures and what to expect from your visit.

To ensure your safety and maintain your wellbeing we have introduced new measures for your visit to our clinic and this is both to help prepare you for something that we will be adhering to for the benefits of everybody and it follows the guidance from Public Health England, the Institute of Osteopathy and expectations of The General Osteopathic Council.

Prior to your visit

  • We will not be able to see anyone at the clinic if you or anyone you live with has symptoms of coronavirus. We will call you on the day of your visit to ensure it is safe for you to come into the clinic.

  • We will also screen you if you have any medical conditions and explain any potential risk to you before your booking will be confirmed.

  • If you (or anyone you are in close contact with) develop any symptoms please do cancel your appointment with as much notice as possible (there will of course be no cancellation charge for this).

  • If any practitioner (or someone they are in close contact with) develops any symptoms then we will have to either i.) rearrange your face to face appointment, ii.) move it to another Osteopath or iii.) only do a virtual appointment, while we self isolate.

  • To reduce risk, we may undertake a new patient consultation by phone or video, prior to visiting the clinic for examination, diagnosis and treatment.

  • We recommend that you walk or drive if possible and that you come alone if possible.

  • We are also requesting that you bring a face covering or face mask to be worn within the clinic to reduce the transmission risk (we can provide one for you to keep for £1)

On arrival at the clinic

  • Please arrive on time for your appointment.

  • If you ring the bell, try to do so with your elbow.

  • We will limit the number of patients in the clinic, so do arrive on time. We will not be able to let you in before your appointment starts, if there is another patient in the clinic.

  • Please wear your face covering before coming into the clinic, if you do not have one we can provide you with one.

  • Do clean your hands with the hand gel available before touching anything in the clinic.

  • For safety, we will be wearing PPE – a face mask, apron and gloves. This is for everyone’s safety and not to alarm you.

  • The reception areas will be empty of magazines, information, price lists etc

  • Please refrain from putting clothing, bags or other items on another chair if you are waiting in reception.

  • If using the toilet, where possible use your elbows to open/close the door and please do wash your hands again, before leaving the toilet.

In the Treatment Room

  • We have removed linen, towels and couch covers from the rooms and replaced the pillow case with a wipeable pillow. This means that you will be lying on the couch which will just be covered with couch roll. We will not be providing towels, so we ask that you bring in shorts or, shorts and a vest top and if you wish to be covered more a clean towel in its own bag.

  • We will be washing our hands/forearms with soap and water or Gel before and after your treatment.

Cleaning and Sanitisation

  • Before and after each patient, we will be sanitising the couch, chair, table, door handles, coat hanger and any equipment that is out.

  • For the Osteopath Croydon clinic, we will also frequently clean the toilet, reception desk, card machines and entrance door/intercom. We will also be steam cleaning the floor. The Carshalton Beeches Osteopathy clinic treatment room will be kept clean to the same high standard. Outside of the treatment room is the responsibility of the dental practice and it meets the hygiene requirements as set by the CQC and NHS guidelines.

After Your Treatment

– If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 within 5 days of visiting the clinic, please can you inform the clinic at the earliest opportunity, so we can take appropriate measures, which may include a deep clean, self-isolation and advising other patients.
